after some searching for a good mel IDE, I found a string of successively better options, with maxya at the end of that string.
a fantastic code editor with every function you could want(and then some), brilliantly integrated with maya - but version independant!
thankfully, due to the standalone nature of maxya, if you manage to crash maya you also wont lose your code you were developing.

1st I would like to thank TARZ WORKSHOP for making Maxya Editor Pro, and I would also like to recommend it to all Mel programmers because you've never seen something like this before.
